The Polish of Degrassi Season 10,pt.2

So in this episode of Degrassi (S10),I was looking for beautiful polish on the tips of the females when BAM....Eli,Degrassi's latest addition and love interest of Claire, was sporting his own polish! Crazy..so I can't decide if this is a super dark taupe or a light black color.Tell me what you think! If it is taupe,Eli is much more fashionable than he seems :]

The Polish of Degrassi Season 10

So I have some weird obsession with Degrassi and the new season is really great.Unfortunately,I really don't watch TV at home so I have to try to find the full length episodes online.Well anyhow, sometimes I see some great nail polish choices that fit the character and what's going on in their life so well that it really amazes me.

In the beginning of the whole summer saga,Declan(the rich pretty boy) moves back to Manhattan with Fiona(his twin),Holly J Sinclair(his girlfriend),and Jane(his ex-fling).Towards the beginning of the episode,we see Jane sneaking around the halls of Degrassi High to find her bandmates. The group stages an impromptu gig and when the final school bell rings, the band croons a tune about summertime!

Here,we seen lead singer of Janie and the Studs sporting very chic, glossy black polish. This goes well with her rocking, badass image.Although I find it highly unlikely Jane shops at MAC,this polish could be MAC Nocturnelle.I have,as I'm sure we all do,the same exact shiny black cream. My choice for such a simple and sometimes messy look would be a cheap and simple one-coated like my 99 cent bottle of Wet n Wild Black Creme.

Holly J is seen here consoling Jane in her time of trouble.I don't know about you guys, but I found it really hard to feel bad for her.Anyhow, she is wearing a beautiful shimmery and almost frosty muted red.I think a good match would be CND Hollywood.

Tell me what you guys think!

Pure Ice "Dreamy"

My third polish from the five polish Walmart trip is one I'm pretty disappointed in.The glitter in this polish and the color are unreal!I absolutely love the way it looks in the bottle and on the nail.Unfortunately though,it chipped within less than 24 hours of wearing.Anyhow, let's get to it.

"Dreamy" is a beautiful hot pink that has slight orange undertones and blue and green flakies. The product is pretty sheer and, even after three coats, there is still slight VNL.Despite the thinness of the product, the application was wonderful!Of course, being a glitter, the texture was pretty rough and bumpy even after top coat was applied.Like I said, the polish chipped in less than a day..and I didn't do anything crazy.

Look how beautiful it is in the bottle.I absolutely love the color in the bottle but for some reason the glitter just doesn't really live up to it on the nail. It's almost like the flakies sink under the polish and are only really visible in super bright sunlight. All in all,I would say this was an average purchase for me.Luckily,it was only $2.This would probably be better for toes so I don't have to look at the imperfections so much.

Pure Ice "Taupe Drawer"

I have two followers!!! I am beyond excited..I'm such a dork.To those of you reading, thank you SO much! Anyhow,in my recent trip to WalMart,I got 5 polishes(including the one in the last post) so I will be blogging about these in the upcoming days.

Today's post is about a sexy little number I picked up.It's a beautiful purple-based taupe FOR ONLY $2!!And the name absolutely tickles me every time I look at it.

Although the color isn't very true to life,I just wanted to show the amazing name.

This little beauty applied like a dream. One hearty coat could have been enough but I am really skeptical about one-coaters so I decided to go with two thinner layers. It has worn nicely so far and I really like the color. It is a .5 fl. oz. bottle, the same amount of polish in an OPI.The brush wasn't as thin as the Petites from my last post but not quite an OPI Pro Wide either.I'll try to think to get a brush picture next time I post one like this.

Unfortunately I don't think this polish does anything for my skin tone..I can't explain it.It's like my fingernails look very unnatural with this type of color. So sad.

I know my photog skills aren't quite up to par...I'm still working on that.

Petites "Mystical"

Yesterday I purchased (AKA my boyfriend purchased for me :]) this tiny beauty.I got it from WalMart and,as you can see,it's from a brand called Petites. I got the color Mystical, which is agorgeous purple! I am so in love with it!!! I actually had NO purple polish before this and I'm really glad I chose this one. It was only $1.50!

So in this first photo I wanted to show the size of the bottle which is pretty small. However,if it's a color you're not absolutely sure about or you don't tend to use an entire bottle of polish (as I'm sure most of us don't) the bottle size isn't a big deal. There is .25 fluid ounces of polish, which is half the polish the OPI bottle boasts.

This photo shows the size of the brush.Although I'm a huge fan of OPI's Pro Wide brush,I found this brush was really flexible, which allowed the hairs to fan out just enough to cover a good bit of the nail. The application was also pretty good.It was a bit streaky with the first coat, being not quite opaque but not quite sheer either. But with 2,there was only a teensy bit of VNL,so I did use 3 coats.

This picture is a little more true to color in real life than the first. And I went a little picture crazy... :]

And just in case you were wondering....I wanted to show you what I rub into my cuticles.I will let you in on a little secret...I don't know the FIRST THING about nail health. If I looked at a set of nails,I couldn't tell you a darn thing about their cuticles! So even in my ignorance,I figure I should at least try to keep my cuticles looking good.Anyhow,I use this Rosebud Salve. It smells fantastic and you can actually use it any place on your body that is dry.I usually use it only for cuticles and lips because I think it'd be too stick and oily to wear on my skin but I also live where it doesn't get too cold or too dry. This salve is available at Sephora for only $6!

Thanks so much for reading! Comment below and let me know what you think of these products or if you're considering trying them!

Betsey Johnson Challenge

Here is my nail art for PHD's most recent challenge. I chose a dress similar to this design (I'll upload a photo of the dress as soon as I figure out how to). I used China Glaze "For Audrey" as a base, OPI "Fiercely Fiona" for the spots, and Wet n Wild "Black Creme" for the spots' outline. I'm not exactly a nail art pro or anything but I tried my best. Let me know what you think in the comments.

First Ever Post

Hi! I don't really know who will ever read this but welcome to my blog! Something has recently instilled a serious love (obsession) with nail polish. The name of this blog, Green-wich Village, actually comes from my first OPI polish which kind of encourage my passion for polish. I will upload swatch photos, reviews, and any information about polishes that I can get my hands on. My next post will be a photo of a nail design I've just done for Polish Hoarder Disorder's blog.

That's all for now!
